Bennett Truck Center — Core Return Policy

A core is the used, rebuildable component you replace — an engine, long block, cylinder head, turbocharger, injector set, transmission, differential, or other rebuildable part. Where a core charge applies, it is collected as a refundable deposit, not as a sale of goods, and is held as collateral pending return of an acceptable core.

Return Window

Cores must be received by Bennett Truck Center within ninety (90) days of the invoice date. Deposits on cores not received by day 90 are forfeited in full on day 91. We send courtesy reminders as the deadline approaches, but meeting the window is the customer's responsibility.

What Makes a Core Acceptable

Core credit requires a like-for-like core: the same component type and the same or directly equivalent part number, model, and configuration as the unit purchased from Bennett Truck Center. To receive core credit, the returned core must: be like-for-like as described above; be complete and assembled, unless otherwise approved in writing; be rebuildable — not cracked, windowed, welded, seized beyond rebuildability, or otherwise non-repairable; have all fluids (oil, coolant, fuel) fully drained; and have all open ports capped or plugged.

A core that is not like-for-like — a different model, configuration, or component than what was purchased — receives no core credit. Bennett Truck Center may, at its sole discretion and on a case-by-case basis, issue a partial credit based on the value of the core actually received; any such partial credit is discretionary and is not a waiver of this requirement for any other return.

Packaging & Shipping

Palletized cores must be strapped to the pallet with a minimum of two straps and stretch-wrapped, and labeled with your company name and invoice number. For palletized cores, Bennett Truck Center schedules the return freight; where free core return is offered on your invoice, it applies to that scheduled shipment. Smaller cores ship by ground carrier per our instructions. Before shipping, submit photos of the packaged core, the core tag, and the Bill of Lading through our Support Request form — and keep a signed copy of the BOL. Cores shipped without prior authorization or documentation may be refused.

Inspection & Credit

All cores are inspected on receipt. Inspection and processing begin when the core physically arrives at our facility — transit time does not count. Core credit is issued after inspection confirms the core is acceptable and like-for-like. Processing is estimated at 30 to 90 days from receipt, depending on the volume of core and order returns being processed at the time. Core deposit refunds are issued by company check only. Core deposits are always refunded in full on any approved order cancellation.

Unacceptable Cores

If a core fails inspection, we will provide photos documenting the condition. The customer then has thirty (30) days to elect either return of the core at the customer's freight expense or scrapping of the core. An unacceptable core receives no credit, and an unclaimed core is scrapped after 30 days with no further obligation. Partial credit may be issued only with manager approval, at Bennett Truck Center's sole discretion.
